Both WestJet and Air Canada have quite decent prices to Bridgetown, Barbados at the moment ($540 roundtrip after tax).
It's cheap up until about the end of November and then the price jumps up. Coincidentally, that's about when hurricane season is officially over in the Caribbean, so if you're going to go, consider going as late in November as you can.
And what about accommodations? This isn't Mexico or Cuba, so you won't find any cheap all inclusives. But that doesn't mean you need to break the bank to stay there.
I would usually start by checking out TripAdvisor...

Click on 'Specialty Lodging'. Take a look at the 2nd highest ranked Guesthouse/Apartment, the Dolphin Inn Guesthouse. Now let's Google for their website, and here we go:

Studio apartment, $75/night, kitchenette with a 2 burner-stove, satellite TV, and coconut & banana trees, what more could one want? The 28 reviews on TripAdvisor say it's fantastic, clean, and close to the beach, shopping, and nightlife.
So, for two people, you would be looking at $540 for the flight, plus $262 each for 7 nights accommodation, or $800 each. Something tells me the rum is pretty cheap in Barbados. Eat where the locals eat.
