2-in-1 trip: Calgary to Tokyo, Japan *and* Taiwan - $670 CAD roundtrip | ANA flights

All Nippon Airways is showing 2-in-1 flights that allow you to spend time in both Tokyo, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan for $670 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
You would fly from Calgary to Tokyo, Japan (spend time there) and then fly from Tokyo to Taipei, Taiwan (spend time there), and then fly home from Taipei to Calgary.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) is a very good airline, ranked #3 in the world last year.
The flights are into Tokyo's Haneda Airport (HND) - which is the one closer to downtown Tokyo.
Note that with some flights, you may arrive at Taipei's TPE airport, but fly home from Taipei's TSA airport.
Canadian citizens do not require a visa to visit Taiwan.
Is it possible to just fly to Japan for this price and forget about Taiwan?
You can't completely eliminate Taiwan, but you can minimize the time spent in Taiwan down to 2 nights.

2. Change the search type to 'Multi-City'
3. Search for a flight like this one:

- Try one of the following date combinations:
May 22 to May 29 to Jun 5 -- 1 seat
May 29 to Jun 5 to Jun 12
Sep 4 to Sep 11 to Sep 18
Sep 11 to Sep 18 to Sep 25
Sep 18 to Sep 25 to Oct 2
Sep 25 to Oct 2 to Oct 9 -- 1 seat
Oct 23 to Oct 30 to Nov 6
Nov 6 to Nov 13 to Nov 20
Nov 20 to Nov 27 to Dec 4

NOTE: The above are just example dates. Many other dates are likely to work, in and around the dates listed above.
You can try playing around with the middle date to give yourself more or less time in Tokyo vs Taipei.
You can also try playing around with the start and end dates to make the overall trip shorter or longer. I would focus on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday dates.
If you are mainly interested in Japan, you can minimize the time in Taiwan to a 2 night stay

- These are still showing up on Skyscanner, although the booking sites showing them are what I call the 'slow sites'.
They are the booking sites that are slower than everyone else at displaying real time prices, so I am not confident they can actually ticket them for the price they are displaying.
Clicking through from to Expedia or ExploreTrip does not seem to work (the price jumps). Only eDreams works.

3. Change the search type to 'Multi-City'
4. Search for a flight like this one:
Calgary (YYC) to Tokyo, Japan (TYO)
Tokyo, Japan (TYO) to Taipei, Taiwan (Any)

NOTE: Be sure to use Taipei, Taiwan (Any). Otherwise it won't work.
