Low cost carrier Flair Airlines just announced they are pulling out of Abbotsford, BC (YXX) due to the extra competition from Swoop.
It looks like they're going to use these freshly freed up aircraft to operate flights from Calgary to Ottawa (YOW) instead.
The Flair Airlines website isn't showing this new route yet, but I'm starting to see Calgary - Ottawa fares show up for $250 CAD roundtrip on various search engines, even for July and August travel.
Flair does not include a carry-on bag in their prices, only a personal item. I would use a price of around $320 CAD roundtrip to compare more fairly against Air Canada and Westjet's prices.
Currently, the next cheapest non-stop flights from Calgary to Ottawa in July & August are going for $560 CAD roundtrip, which is pretty typical. Calgary-Ottawa has always been an expensive route.
NOTE: The 'Centre Block' of Parliament is currently undergoing a decade long renovation project, so it is closed to visitors. Parliament Hill itself is still open. New guided tours of the Senate of Canada Building and West Block are available.
Vice-versa flights (Ottawa to Calgary) are also available for a similar roundtrip price.
Update 2/19 - To compete with Flair, Air Canada has dropped the price of their July flights from Calgary to Ottawa down to $250 CAD roundtrip including taxes. Try Wednesday or Friday departure dates, and Monday or Thursday return dates, in July or early August.

- look for the dates that are $251 roundtrip
