Aeromexico is showing non-stop flights from Calgary to Mexico City over peak Christmas and New Year's dates for $398 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
Aeromexico has been showing cheap non-stop flights from Calgary to Mexico City for a little while now (Aeromexico started flying out of YYC this month), but now they are showing this price on virtually every date in the 2017 calendar, and right up to the end of February in 2018.
A great airfare price over Christmas or New Year's, to anywhere, is extremely rare. Prices between December 20th and January 7th almost never drop, and are usually 1.5 to 2 times their typical non-Christmas price levels.

January, February 2018
The average high in Mexico City in December is around 21C. About 22 degrees warmer than Calgary (-1C).
How to find and book this deal
1. Try this Google Flights search...
Google Flights: Calgary to Mexico City
Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.
2. Select your flights and click through to the Aeromexico website, or Expedia.

You can also find flights from Mexico City to a few other places in Mexico around Christmas for a fairly low price...
...but you would be booking 2 separate roundtrip flights, which would usually mean spending at least a night in Mexico City on either end of the trip.

I've attempted to give the realistic price, with a checked bag, as these are low cost carriers.
Mexico City to Huatulco (HUX) - $156 CAD roundtrip on VivaAerobus
Mexico City to Cancun (CUN) - $190 CAD roundtrip on Volaris
Mexico City to Merida (MID) - $193 CAD roundtrip on VivaAerobus
Mexico City to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) - $217 CAD roundtrip on VivaAerobus
Update 7/12 - The non-stop flights from Calgary to Mexico City on Aeromexico for $377 CAD roundtrip including taxes are back again today.
Availability for travel on quite a few dates between July and early December 2017. Christmas and New Year's didn't drop this time.

Hi Layla, you could try Avianca (Avianca.com - change country to Canada before searching, to see prices in $CAD). They are showing flights from Mexico City to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) around Christmas and New Year's for $301 CAD including taxes. But you would be booking 2 separate roundtrip flights, and the timing doesn't always work out.
From Edmonton on these dates I'm seeing nearly $900... what a difference. Wish we had an AeroMexico flight....
And Calgary wishes they had Icelandair :)
Hopefully both airlines will expand their coverage to include flights from both YYC and YEG at some point.
One option is to get on the bus or drive from Edmonton to Calgary. If it saves you hundreds of dollars, could be worth it.
For some reason this deal does not show, is all the flights booked already? Average cheap flights one way $393.05 and return of $405ish?
