United Airlines has dropped the price of their flights from Calgary to Taipei, Taiwan down to $668 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
Most flights have 2 stops on the way there, and some flights have 1 stop on the way home. Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver are the most common connections.

Taiwan is considered the world leader in COVID-19 containment measures (population of 23 million, and 6 deaths). Taiwan also managed to keep businesses and schools open throughout all this.
Taiwan is currently planning to open back up for tourists in October - but like all things COVID-19 related, it's subject to change.
Update May 31st - You can now find flights with ANA for between $521 and $544 CAD roundtrip - but the flights have a 24 hour layover in Tokyo, and often require an airport change in Tokyo.
