Update 5/27 - After disappearing briefly, these have returned again today, and they're even a little cheaper now. Calgary to various places in Central America (Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua) are available for $415 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
1. Follow the instructions above. Most of the dates listed still seem to be working.

You can also fly into one Central American city, and home from another, for similar prices. For example, fly from Calgary to Managua, Nicaragua and then home from San Jose, Costa Rica to Calgary for $420 CAD roundtrip including taxes. The flight between the two Central American cities is not included.
1. Go to Momondo
2. Change the trip type (under the first input box) from 'Return Trip to 'Multi-City'
3. Now you need to decide which combination of cities and dates to try.
You may want to start by trying dates from the list above.
For example, in the list of dates above, you may see:
Nov 2 to Nov 14
Nov 9 to Nov 21
Nov 16 to Nov 28
So a good Multi-City search to try first would be...
Calgary to Managua, Nicaragua (MGA) on Nov 2
San Jose Costa Rica (SJO) to Calgary on Nov 21
Like this...
And we can see that this works out to $420 CAD roundtrip including taxes...

Here's another one:
Calgary to Panama City, Panama (PTY)
San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) to Calgary
(Nov 2 to Nov 21 - $415)
[Note: With this multi-city trip involving Panama, you have fast flights both ways. The regular roundtrip flights to Panama City always involve a nearly 24 hour layover in one direction. It also needs to be Panama first, doing the reverse trip re-introduces the long layover.]

Hey Chris, wicked find and great information on weather scheduling. Any idea if it's possible to rent a car and return it in another country down there?
Thanks Cory! Anywhere I've been in the world, I've found that the rule of thumb with one way car rentals is that if you're dropping it off in a different country, the one way charge will be ridiculously high.
In Central America, most border crossings with a rental car might not even be feasible. You're probably better off looking for other modes of transportation between countries, and renting a car separately in each country.
