Update: August 5th - Amazingly, these cheap fares to Taiwan seem to still be kicking around. In fact, there seems to be some on Delta that are slightly cheaper. September 8 to 19 for example is down to $735...

United and Continental just dumped the price of their flights to Taipei, Taiwan in a serious way. They're down to $752 roundtrip after tax at the moment, about 40% cheaper than the next cheapest airlines! This is by far the cheapest I've ever seen flights to Taiwan.
The affected date range looks to be quite large, there seems to be plenty of flights throughout August, September, October, November, December, and even through 2012 !
There's even one over Christmas, which I'll use as an example search on Kayak...

Try a 3 day flexible date search on Kayak from Calgary to Taipei in any given month to see what comes up for you.
Weather-wise, November is the best month to visit Taiwan.

Unfortunately it's not overly likely Mary. In the world of travel, when someone buys, the price is usually set in stone. It's not your travel agency's fault, it's just the nature of the product. Can't hurt to ask though I guess!

Thanks Chris! My GF and I just booked a flight starting in Taiwan and coming home from Melbourne for later this month and total cost was $900 return! A pretty good deal in my opinion considering most return flights from anywhere in Asia or Australia were $1200+.
